At the end of Term One we worked on an artwork that depicted the Australian Landscape. We studied the following artworks and discussed their subject matter, colours, style and which era of Australian history they might have been completed in. That’s right – the 1800s, Gold Rush Time!

“The Drover” by Walter Withers

These artists did a very good job at depicting the Australian Bush and it’s harshness.  Some of them were ‘Plein Air’ artists, which means they took their easel and palette outside and painting the scene right there in bush!

After looking at these artworks, 5/6J created their own Australian landscape using a mixture of watercolour pencils and soft pastels.
Here are our results!

  1. Hi to the world,
These are the paintings we did in term one.
1st: I would like to thank Miss B for doing it with us, I have learnt a lot of new art skills.
2nd: I like that we were shown other paintings to do with the same sort of concept and colour scheme.
3rd: I liked the materials that we used, the roughness of the chalk, and the water colour pencils where great.

    well that’s all for now,
    Jessie.
