What a busy term it has been! With only 4 days remaining, let’s recap some of the most recent events in March and those occuring next week.

HARMONY DAY

Last Wednesday we celebrated Harmony Day by wearing something orange and donating a can/packet of food to the Penrith Food kitchen.

YOUNG LEADERS DAY

Our student leaders attended the Halogen’s Foundation Young Leaders Day at the Entertainment Centre on Monday. A great day with great speakers, including comedian Ahn Doh.

CROSS COUNTRY

On Tuesday we held our cross country, with nearly all 5/6J members running the whole 3 km! Here is the map of the course, 4 times round the whole school and twice round the oval. Astute 5/6J members will notice that this Google image is quite old, missing the new hall, equipment and classrooms!

LIGHT UP BLUE DAY

Yesterday we held ‘Blue Day’ for autism awareness. we wore blue mufti and were able to purchase merchandise and blue food (secret blue Twisties – crazy!) from the canteen. The Year 9 drama class from Kingswood High School came and presented a puppet show with some great tips on interacting with friends, especially those who may have autism.

EARTH HOUR

Today we had earth hour, which is held around the world tomorrow night. The theme this year is to go beyond 1 hour, today in 5/6J we had the lights off for the whole day!

JANE MCGRATH FOUNDATION – Pink Day @ PSSA

Today our cricket and tee ball teams wore pink wristbands to support our local schools fundraising for the Jane McGrath Breast cancer day. Our school contributed a donation on behalf of our 5 teams who played at Jamison Park.

ANZAC CEREMONY

Next Tuesday all of stage three will be attending an early Anzac Ceremony at the Penrith Paceway. This free event is held by Penrith RSL. Here is a photo from last year’s Anzac Ceremony.

WACKY HAIR DAY

Next Thursday we will be holding Wacky Hair Day to raise money for Stewart House. This will coincide with mufti day, our Easter Hat Parade and our Easter raffle. A great way to end them term!
