On Tuesday 23rd March 27 lucky students from year 5 and 6 attended a FREE excursion to Warragamba Dam. This excursion was provided by Penrith City Council.
Warragamba Dam is the main water supply for the city of Sydney. It is almost 50 years old. recently reopened to the public, it features a brand new visitors centre, lookouts and parks. Check out our photos in the slide show below. After visiting the dam we planted some trees at Werrington. It was hot, we were very sweaty and dirty after planting more than 200 trees!

Tristan,  Cameron M,  Cameron I,  James,  Camryn,  Ryan,  Jesse, Corey C  and  Jacob  attended  from  5/6J.

Didn’t go?

Why don’t you post a question and they can post an answer!

  1. Hello 56J.
What a great excursion – it looked like everyone was having fun. We were surprised that the dam has not been full since 1998 – that’s a loooooong time 🙂
Was it interesting finding out how everything worked? And we think that the pipe to Sydney must be very long and very big.

Did you know that you would be planting all of those trees when you got there? or was it a surprise for you all at the end? It was amazing that you planted so many trees – how long did it take you? (and how long did it feel like?)

  2. Hello Allstars!
Yes the excursion was fun. The pipe to Sydney was really cold.
No we did not no we would be planting trees and it took sooooooo long and it was sooooooooo hot! Over an hour that’s for sure. I think the bus was the only place we got to cool down, and it wasn’t even air conditioned!

  3. Hi 5/6J
The trip was so fun when we saw a trap, that’s not all. We saw a spider at Warragamba dam & a big fish. When we were going back to school the bus stopped at a park. We got out of the bus. It was hard and hot on the way back to school, I wish it hadn’t been over.
