After spending most of the year looking at narratives, persuasions and poems we now turn our focus to FACTUAL TEXTS.

So far we have looked at historical recounts, factual recounts and biographies.

For the next few weeks we will be looking at INFORMATION REPORTS.

Information reports are factual pieces of writing design to INFORM you on a topic.

First let’s do this online activity together. Make sure you click INFORMATION TEXTS.

Next you are going to visit www.studyladder.com.au and choose an information report to read and answer some questions.

Any words that are underlined can be clicked and they will be read aloud.

If you don’t know the meaning of the word you could use a strategy (inference, text clues, fix up strategies, background knowledge, make a connection).

Or you could use the dictionary app located in the dock.

Now go to this wordwisher wall and type a comment explaining how we tell a text is an information report. Include your name on your sticky note.

Leave a comment below and tell us:

What do Biographies and Information Reports have in common?

What do Biographies and Information Reports have that is different?
