This term we are looking more closely at ‘The Fear Tale’. Here is the plot outline of The Fear Tale:
We can identify different stories and picture books that follow this plot. It is important to remember that a story or book may not fit exactly into this plot but still be considered a Fear Tale. For example, there may be no teasing in the story about the main character’s fear, or the fear may be a fear felt by all characters, such as a village fearing a dragon or an evil queen.
One of Miss B’s favourite picture books loosely follows The Fear Tale. It is a story of a duck named Ping, who lives on a boat with his master on the Yangtze River in China. Here are some photos of the Yangtze River that Miss B visited in September:
