I can name 4 things that are found in still life artworks
I can recall the name of 3 artists who painted still lifes
I can describe the shape of objects in still lifes
I can accurately draw a range of bottles
I can use a chalk pastels to make the bottles look see through
The still life paintings below are by Giorgio Morandi. He was an Italian artist who lived from 1890–1964. He mostly painted still lifes (called natura morta in Italian) and his favourite subject was of bottles. There are even some of his artworks in the Art Gallery of NSW.
Morandi would arrange the bottles and other paraphernalia on a table top and then paint and draw them. He would use pastel colours and would create shadows to show that the bottles overlap.
Check out these pictures of different glass coloured bottles.
We can create an artwork of overlapping see through bottles using chalk pastels on black paper.
Miss B knows a cool trick for getting the bottle to look symmetrical!
